KULIMA MONTESSORI

Preparing Children for their Time and Place

Our Mission

OUR MISSION:

Kulima Montessori is dedicated to providing an enriching and challenging educational environment where all children are nurtured and grow to their fullest potential academically, emotionally, and socially. Through the dynamic partnership of child, parent, community and guide, children are offered the freedom to explore, cooperate, create and become constructive citizens, prepared for their time and place.

OUR VISION:

The Montessori philosophy recognizes that children have a natural drive that inspires them to reach their potential. Their minds are like fertile fields, and their inherent love of learning is stimulated when they are given opportunities to engage in meaningful activities with the proper balance of autonomy and guidance from specially trained teachers.

At Kulima Montessori we guide children in developing skills of concentration, motivation, critical thinking, and self-discipline. Within this framework, each child progresses at his own pace and rhythm, according to his individual capabilities, and is inspired to learn with wonder and confidence. Only then, when truly meeting the child’s needs, we witness children flourish beyond expectations. Our school bears witness to the viability and brilliance, and relevance of this educational approach.

OUR METHOD

“Here is an essential principle of education: to teach details is to bring confusion to establish the relationship between things is to bring knowledge.” (Maria Montessori, From Childhood to Adolescence, pg. 58).

Kulima Montessori is an authentic Montessori community. We foster independence, critical thinking, and responsibility to self, to others and to the earth. Our students grow to become adults who are leaders; who not only want to contribute to the world around them but who have the skills they need to do so in exceptional ways.

The Montessori method aims to help young people construct themselves as complete human beings. We believe that children learn by doing and are lovers of purposeful work. Montessori hands-on materials incorporate many of the most current learning theories. The materials begin at a very sensorial level and become increasingly abstract as the student’s understanding grows. Montessori materials are sequential: for example the skip counting beads in the Children’s house form the foundation of the upper elementary student’s abstract understanding of cubed roots and algebraic formulations.

Kulima Montessori believes that every child deserves the opportunity to receive a world class Montessori education. This is why we have partnered with Montessori Partnerships for Georgia. â€‹

Supported by our non-profit, The Kulima Foundation, Kulima Montessori endeavors to provide access to talented students across the economic spectrum by cultivating a community where thirty-five percent of our students come from low-income families.
